Tag: Cane or not to cane

Sweetpea wanted to know what's the disciplinary method I am cultivating in my family. Like her, I couldn't find any cane/rotan for sale in LA area so I don't have the 'equipment'. It is better this way because if I can find one, I will definitely use it. But I prefer to spare someone's behind/palm by not having to own one of the cane.

I also grew up with eating 'tang tiu' most of my younger years. Our mom was very strict. But now there are other disciplinary way to teach the child, I may want to try the new ways, and hope that will work too.

8 things about me

I was on my msn, and then Mama Judy msged me. She told me I kena tagged. I was happy because I like short tags. It is a good post to learn more about one person.

Here goes about me:

1. Born in Penang.

2. Move to several houses around the Island before moving to KL when I was starting Form 3.

3. Did Form 1 and Form 2 at SGGS (St. George's Girls School).

4. Went from ALL girl school to co-ed when we moved to KL.

5. My primary school was Sekolah Rendah Seri Permai. Before it moved to its new location at Jalan Tengah, Bayan Baru, it was situated next to the Penang International airport. I still remember the longkang (drain) always filled with BIG FAT very juicy CACINGs (worms) when it rained.

6. I used to live very VERY near to the Penang Pagoda at Air Itam. Walking distance to the market and Pagoda (1 min sudah sampai).

7. I hiked up to Penang Hill once through the Botanical Garden route, with my father and his friends from work.

8. I used to take school bus from my home in Bayan Baru to SGGS, the route took 45 mins-1hr. I was the earliest to be picked up and almost the last to be dropped off. My bus number was 27.

RamblingMoo sent a tag this way. She's only mildly infected by the internet. Unlike me, she only 46%. Me? 60% addicted to the internet. I consider it slightly high as it above 50%. It means more than half of my daily routine is spent in front of the computer.

I am definitely an internet addict. Even before PPP, my life revolved around internet, it is the place where I communicate with my family and friends far far away. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is to turn on my laptop. I turn it off the last thing at night. (but lately I've been turning if off earlier as I am pre-occupied by some reading)

There've been too many tags going around, so I have decided not to pass this one out.

7 Random Things about ME

First tag from MommiBee. This is interesting ... so hold on to your chair ... the following are 7 random things about me.

1. I sit in front of the computer once I get up from bed, provided Brandon still sleeping. This is what I am doing now.

2. I don't have to drive if we go out with Hubby, he will drive. He said I drive like crazy woman. YA RITE! ... I just pretend so I can be the passenger when he is around.

3. I love to eat, and love to cook but very lazy to. I saw so many recipes from blogs, cooking or baking which I really really want to work my hand on ... but I can't find the time and I am also lazy. Now we tar pow outside for dinner may be 3-5 times a week.

4. My mother passed away the year I graduated from college. Wish she is still here.

5. I like to live in KL for the good food and companies. But for earning money and shopping, I like Los Angeles.

6. I want to move to a bigger house. Because the house now is full of lapsap and we need more storage space. Only 3 people living in the house, but all three rooms are filled with things. All closets are full too. Garage aslo full.

7. I take my own sweet time during shopping and like to go through the sales thoroughly before deciding what to buy if I need the item or not and if I want to spend the money for the item or not. Hubby cannot stand this because I'll be in the store for so long deciding on 1 item.

Name Taggie

This one was sent my way by two blogging mommies, Terry's Mommy and Aidan's Mommy. My son very popular it seems a lot of people want to know what his the name means.

Brandon means ...

"Old English origin, and its meaning is "broom, gorse hill" from thinkbabynames.com.

Brandon doesn't have Chinese name. Since we only call him by his English name, Daddy said no need to choose one for him. Daddy has Chinese name but he never use it, MIL calls him his English name, so Daddy said why need another name to confuse people. But MIL always pushed us to get a Chinese name for him as it was difficult for her to pronouce Brandon. But Daddy said a firm 'NO' to her. Then she never asked again.

When Daddy suggested Brandon, the person whom came to my mine was Brandon and Brenda from Beverly Hills 90210. I grew up with that tv series. I like Brandon as the character is a handsome young man. Well, that was the only Brandon I knew.

Tag: Food Around the World

Being tag by two persons, Vien and LZMommy. I would do Vietnamese Pho because Hubby and I really love the noodle soup. But since Vien already did that, I better think of another, more unique food that you can only find here in Los Angeles or rather this part of the world.

What would it be?! Those of you who likes western food ... this post if for you. If you happen to be this part of the world, you MUST try In-N-Out Burger. It is the MOST delicious and simple hamburger I've ever eaten. Ask Rambling Moo, she knows.

A bit of history:
Founded by Harry and Esther Snyder back in 1948 in the city of Baldwin Park, CA as the first drive-thru fast food restaurant in California. Their business philosophy - "Give customers the freshest, highest quality foods you can buy and provide them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment." The business is privately owned and not franchise like many other fast food restaurants.

Menu:
Their menu is very simple. REALLY REALLY simple. Order the type of hamburger you want (hamburger, chesseburger or double-double), french fries and drinks/milk shakes (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry). That's all. The price is very reasonable, IE CHEAP. For both of us, we can have a good meal at In-N-Out for less than $10. No tips.

Their ingredient:
Freshness it the philosophy. They use 100% pure beef (only the chucks-the front ribs and shoulder), free of additives, filler or preservative of any kind. Lettuce is hand-leafed. They use only the juiciest fresh tomatoes and REAL American cheese. Potatoes are hand-diced at the site. All ingredients are delivered fresh in refrigerated truck to the stores. There is no freezer,microwave or heatlamp in the kitchen. Their milk shakes are made from REAL ice-cream.

Layout:
The restaurant also have dine-in area but most people would just drive-thru. You placed the order in the two way speaker, and sometimes with a person with a wireless tablet PC whom will be walking along the que (mind you, during lunch/dinner time, the drive-thru line is pretty long) to take the order from each driver.

Along the drive:
First you will make payment for your food (they also accept Mastercard/Visa).
Next you will come to a series of windows that you see through into their opened kitchen concept and probably be able to observe a helper washing/cleaning and hand-dicing fresh potatoes (NOT frozen) and deep fried them in the 100% cholesterol free vegetable oil.
Lastly, pick up your order (see picture below).

Look at the french fries - so crispy. And the hamburgers - so yummy.

Hot Topic of the Week - "Copycat"

Last 3.5 days, the blogsphere been very hot. I think it went up to 101'C. Why leh? Cause someone in the blogsphere decide to be a copy machine and go photostat post from other ppl, change some text here n there and post it as their own!!! Not only copying tag, but also PPP post.

OMG!!! This is really crazy. Everyone work so hard, killing their braincell everyday to think of what to write and earn the money (hard earn sweat and blood) and this fella, so easy beasy copy the post and make money. If only she’s in front of me, I think I would have slapped her up and down.

So I have to admit that I was kpc, wanted to find out what’s the REAL story from the pitiful woman. I went to MSN her lah. First of all, let me clarify to you that I’m not very close to her. But just that someday when I login to my MSN Live Messenger, she added me in from yahoo. So I just add lah. And she asked me about scrapbooking stuff, so I pointed her to some links. On and off we do chat, nothing else.

So back to the 'cerita', I had a nice chat with her yesterday. She didn’t even want to admit that she was at fault at first when I probe her. She kept saying, yah, Mother’s day post everyone oso tok bout flowers, roses, bla bla…hmm..

Want to know why I highlight the last line RED and bold them cause I see red liao. She copy the exact words in my MSN text with her and then put in her so call apology post. Wah lau ehh…not only want to copy post, MSN text also you want to copy!!! She did it again!

That was the 1st fume!! Then this morning, someone came and told me that this SSS lady I chatted with yesterday, said that she doesn’t know me. She doesn’t know who I am and why I had talked to her and oso why I had accused her liddat.

Wah…I want to pengsan and heart attack. Yesterday I was talking to her, and she posted a sympathy story post just to get sympathy and say ppl accuse her (she already change her wordings) and now she says she doesn’t know me. And she’s writing the post because someone ask her to write. I really want to kick this woman into the BIG OCEAN if I ever bump into her.

So woman, if you see me on the road somewhere, you better go running back to where you were coming from before I cekik you.

10 Ways How My Hubby Annoys Me

Got tagged by Zara's Mama. Very interesting tag. I get to know more about other mommies as well as they get to know about my life.

1. My hubby is very punctual, in fact, too punctual. He gets ready like 15 mins before the time and needs to be there BEFORE the schedule time to meet up. Good is good but it makes me nervous most of the time. I dislike to be hurry to get things done before going out. So, a lot of times, I have to tell him NOT TO HURRY ME! Because, he will start the car outside and wait while I still need time to get things together before I can go out.

2. He doesn't know how to cook. I can't even trust him to cook Maggie Mee for me. The noodles will be as hard as not being cooked. So I have to cook for him. Only once he cooked, he fried the carrot cake and he burnt my NON STICK wok. The burnt was not that bad but now there is a darker black spot on the non-stick surface.

3. He forgets so easily. One moment I tell him then afterwards he doesn't remember what I already told him. *sigh* Have to remind him so many many times ... still he doesn't remember. Good example is that I have been wearing Invisalign for a good 6 months now, an invisible plastic tray braces. Even so long, he still doesn't remember I am wearing because he would always ask me to sample food when we go out and somemore want to feed the food into my mouth. I so geram most of the time. Like as if he wants to tease me I can't eat the food.

4. He prefers NOT to have to wake up from bed on the weekends. I can understand if he sleeps late the night before but this is not the case. Even though he already woke up, he still likes to lie on the bed and look at the ceiling fan (dunno thinking about what, usually when asked, he would said nothing). Unlike him, when I wake up, I have to get out of the bed. There are so many things I need to get done.

5. He sleeps TOO EARLY, the latest by 11pm, that's on Wednesday because we watch 'Lost'. Other nights, he would be sleeping around 10-1030pm. Prior to having a baby, he would sleep by 10pm. Sometimes around 9pm. While for myself, I don't get to bed around 12am. Sometimes I will sleep earlier (but still later than him) but that is when I am tired. So how can we make more babies being sleeping on different time?!

6. He still doesn't know how to take care of Brandon after so many days/months the baby has been with us. He doesn't know Brandon's cue most of the time and also he doesn't know how to calm him. This is quite annoying as he always ask me what to do. Like just now, I was trying to apply lotion and he was supposed to play with Brandon. Brandon was laughing but then suddenly he went crying (might be tired). Hubby just sat there with Brandon crying and he asked me what to do, asking me if he was sleepy. i walked over there and saw him with the babyon his lap crying and he wasn't doing anything to help. I told him, raising my voice, "Just carry him and walk around the house lar." When he got up from the floor, Brandon stopped crying. Brandon didn't sleep until 2 hours later.

7. He wears tee shirt and shorts on weekends. Sometimes I want him to dress better because we go out nicer place or to attend some function or to show homes to my clients. But he still wears tee shirts and jeans. Like this past Friday, I attended a Real Estate Fair. He followed me there but only wears tee shirt and jeans.

8. He washes his car so often. It felt like it was just yesterday when he told me he was going to wash his car. But then he said already 2 weeks ago and it will be raining tomorrow. I said let the rain wash your car lar then. His response was, "I wash the car now then is clean, so when the rain comes down, the dirt won't stick to my car." I said back in KL, I only wash my car once a year! Because we have the heavy rain to help wash and clean the dirt away. HA HA!

9. He eats so much beef jerky. He likes to eat junks, I would say it.

10. He very kpc too. He likes to blog hop onto the mommies' blogs listed on my blog. I said why you so kpc want to know about the other people just like me. He should have spend time to play with Brandon and LET ME do the blog hopping!

A peek into someone's handbag

Got another tag. This time it came from Binky, blogging and such. She wants to see what handbag I use and what I keeping inside the handbag. Not to disappoint you, but my handbag very plain one. Nothing interesting.

As you know, I have a 1yr 1 mth baby boy. So like Shirley, I also carry a diaper bag, which is actually a miniture diaper bag which I bought from Target before our trip to Malaysia. I like the bag because I like it being the strap is adjustable (long or short) (over the shoulder or not). Also, it has a lot of compartments and I only used the main ones.

OK, what you will find in my bag:
1. my purse
2. my digital camera
3. my water bottle
4. my lipgloss
5. my lipstick (just in case I need to show homes but rarely put on)
6. scotties tissues pack
7. 1 diaper, 1 baby wipe (individually pack)
8. baby bottle
9. baby's pacifier
10. my groceries coupons book (not in the picture because it is now in the car)
11. an Arbonne sample package just in case if I came across someone who wants to try it
12. lastly, lap sap "rubbish" - could be anything from some new coupons I've just cut out from the newspaper, a piece of paper with phone number, a shopping list, snacks, and other lap sap.
