Sleep deprived

Sorry for the long dissappearance from the blog. Been trying hard to care for baby Brandon. He is now two weeks old. Time really passing so fast. I can see that he has more distinct look now rather than just baby look. His hair is growing longer too.

I've created a blog just for him and his cousin, baby Ethan. Both were born on the same day (Malaysian time), just hour apart. Amazing cousins they are, born on the same day. Baby Ethan came 5 weeks early but he is fine and is back home with his Mommy and Daddy after only one week in the special care unit. I need to find the MORE time to update that blog as well as this one.

As for myself, I feel much more myself this week, physically. Walking, standing, sitting (except sleeping) - all a lot better than the first week postpartum. As for sleeping ... aiyaya ... baby Brandon is a night owl. He is wide awake at nite from 2am till 6am. Feeding and changing him won't make he go back to sleep, well sometimes may be just for 30 mins then he will wail again. Friends and family have told me to sleep during the daytime but I am not a day sleeper or napper so I wasn't able to do that. Also, I have things around the house to mend to and when baby Brandon is asleep, that is the best time to finish some chores around the house. However, I slept for 2 hours today, which is a lot considering I haven't been having any good zzzz at night.

I've been taking a lot of milk, pre-natal vitamins, and calcium. My BM is getting more now. YEAH! But still baby Brandon wants more everytime he finished nursing. He actually gained 8 ounces (220gram) so far from his birth weight.

Hey.. good to see a post..

Few few weeks will be like that.. will be able to get very little sleep.. but it'll get better.

Try to tickle Brandon's feet during the day when he's dopey.. make him stay awake more in the day, then night time, he'll sleep longer. And also establish a night time routine, make him know it's nigiht and time to sleep.

Ah.. I think you must have heard of all these before.. but I thought I'd share about my experiance.. Zara started sleeping through by 6weeks.

zara's mama: been trying to catch on with my sleep that's why no time to post.

thanks for your advice. most of the time, brandon is hungry that is why he stays awake at nite. he only sleeps when he is satisfied (filling full). pacifier won't do the trick for him.

funny thing is we tried to wake him up during the day time but he gets upset and cry. his whole face become red, so cham to see him like that. =( but we still going to try to have him stay up more during the day time.

hey glad to hear that both of you are doing well. Little brandon has gained weight also...:)

You need to get some sleep you know otherwise you will age very fast.
Not wanting to scare you la but grey hair will start sprouting if you don't sleep much. You can try pumping the milk out to bottle and let hubby feed him while you get some sleep. :) Take care!

Baby won't have a sleep pattern until he's older. Justin's sleep pattern only emerged after 3 months old. Just take more rest, even if you can't sleep during the day, try lying down. You still need rest to recover from delivery. Congra on your breastfeeding journey!

as for ashley, thankfully ashley managed to sleep through the night from 2nd month onwards. alot of ppl have advised to try to keep the baby awake during the day but we didn't specifically keep her up all day though cause babies sleep alot during the first 2 months....anyhow, good luck in converting brandon from a night owl to normal waking/sleeping hours...;)

p.s.
we gave ashley formula during her last feed so that it can sustain longer during the night.

shoppingmum: any tips on breastfeeding? i may have low supply, i tried feeding him as often as he wants too but usually he still not satisfied, so we have to supplement with formula. I also express but usually not much. the most i get is at morning, around 3oz [70-80ml/cc]. other time of the day is just 40ml/cc. i've been drinking a lot of fluids, soup.

mom2ashley: how much formula you gave her during the last feeding of the night? i've tried to give him 3.5oz [100ml/cc], but either he can't finish it, or he finished it and wake up about 4 hours later instead of 3. but lately, been getting better, at least i have 2-3hrs sleep twice a night. that is provided i go to bed around 9pm. =)
