Chinese New Year will fall on Jan 29th 2006. We celebrate Chinese New Year until the 15th day of the lunar calendar. But being in a western country, the celebration tends to be shorter. We only celebrate the first day and the other days will be back to normal. Every year, there will be a CNY parade in Chinatown, but I've not been to one before. It will be too crowded anyway.
We do not have public holiday for this festival. Fortunately for this year, the first day of CNY falls on a Sunday, so my DH will be at home to celebrate it together with his family and relatives. Other years, he would be at work during the first day of CNY. SIL usually takes off on the first day of CNY no matter what day it falls on. But DH, a committed and hard worker as he is, he wouldn't take off.
