June 10th

What is the significant of June 10th? Some of you might have known, but to those who doesn't, sit tight and listen to the fairytale below:

Once upon a time not too long ago (1998), there was this girl, AK that was going out with this guy AL. It was the second outing for both of them together. They decided to go to the Ontario Mills located approximately 1 hour plus from AK's house. AK was living in Whittier at that time. They decided on that location because AL has never been to the mall and also AK has a friend that lived nearby and she thought she would be able to meet him as well.

As usual, AL came to pick up AK on time. Really really on time. Once they arrived, they met up with AK's friend and had lunch at the food court in the Mall. AK and AL had the Panda Express. It is fast food Chinese style. AK told AL to ask for the to-go box (though they were planning to eat at the food court anyway) because the portion usually is a little more than the plate.

After lunch, they said good bye to AK's friend and then walked around the mall. It is a big indoor outlet mall. The layout of the shops in the mall is in a circle, probably about 1 mile walk around if you start and end at the same point. So they were window browsing not really buying anything at all. The theater is located on the other side of the mall. They decided to see a movie - Mercury Rising (Bruce Willis).

Quarter way walking, AK decided to find out when is AL's birthday. They had been chit chatting online a lot but AK didn't remember anything about AL mentioning about his birthday.

AK: Hey, when is your birthday ah?
AL: I thought I told you already.
AK: No lar, where got?
AL: Got lar ... you went to my website and saw what.
AK: Your website got say your birthday meh? (scratching head) ... don't remember seeing it also.
AL: OK OK ... June 10th.
AK: (luff and continued walking) HA HA HA ... yea yea yea ... smart one ... trying to fool me lar. My birthday on June 10th lar not yours. So when is your birthday anyway?
AL: June 10th lar.
AK: No way lar. So weird meh? You lying one.
AL: Aiyo, why lie lar, I also dunno when your birthday. Really one, June 10th.
AK: No way, you just say it because you want to make a fool of myself. Show me your ID lar to proof.
AL: (stop and pull out his driving license) Nah ... see lar. June 10th here.
AK: Oh my gosh ... so weird lar. My birthday also June 10th but on **** year instead. Hey, first time I met someone else same birthday as me lar. Aiyo, I got goosebumps already lar.
AL: (acts like nothing happened but keep luffing/smiling)
AK: How come like that one. (cannot stop luffing) Cannot be lar. (still walking) but (doesn't know where she was heading too already ... blur already).
AL: (still walking)
AK: (cannot stop luffing)
AK: (thinking to herself, what if I marry this guy then husband and wife have same birthday - this is even more weird ... but no way this will happen ... still luffing)

**Sorry folks, AL didn't really talk in Malaysian slang as he is an American Born Chinese (ABC). It is just my version of the story and I like it better with some slang in it. he he he**

Movie was so boring. Nothing to talk about. After the movie they left Ontario Mills and heading back to Whittier to drop off AK. On the way back, AK still couldn't believe that they both have the same birthday. So funny that she kept laughing all the way back. Even today, when AK thought about it, she still cannot help but laugh about that particular scenario that happened at that very moment.

Guess what happened next???? One and a half years later, AK and AL got married. Every year since then, they celebrate they birthday together and they live happily ever after.

-THE END-
