A surprise for me. This past Saturday, we went to visit Anthony and Kathleen, my ex-landlord and landlady. I didn't know that they had planned a surprise birthday party for me as my birthday is not this week. It is this coming week. I went by to actually wanted to drop off some Arbonne products which Kathleen had ordered from me. But they led me to the patio and then Kathleen surprised me with the bag of birthday gifts and card while Anthony brought in the heart shaped cake. Thank you so much, you guys are so wonderful.
It didn't feel that long ago when I met them for the first time. It was in the fall 1997, when I began my first semester at Whitter College. Previously, I was attending Marymount College. Time surely flies by quickly. Didn't realize that was such a long time ago. 10 years!
I still remember the first time I met them. Actually, I have gotten their phone number from Whittier College housing, as I was looking for off campus room rental and Anthony had placed an ad with the college. However, they weren't in that weekend when I called. I left a message and left Whittier. My friend, Gregg had brought me over to Whittier from Ontario to look for housing that day and I was hoping that I could find something immeidately. Gregg e is another of my long time friend.
About week later, I got a call from Kathleen and she told me the room was still available and I could drop by to check it out. I packed all my stuff, from Gregg's house (where I'd stored all my stuff for summer when I went home to Malaysia for holiday) and with another friend of mine, we drove to their home, a cute little townhouse in a very nice community, in Whittier on Andalucia Court, and I went in to meet with them while my friend waited for me in her car. Went in and saw the place, liked it, and discussed about the rent and stuff. And then I told them I was going to move in NOW. They were very surprised and that's the beginning of our friendship. They are actually more than friends to me, they are my family.
Thank you very much for the surprise little party we had on Saturday evening. Wished I could have stayed a little big longer as we can chat about anything. But Brandon was making a fuss and we had to leave immediately after we finished the cake.
